Daily Star publishes spoof story related to the Chile Mine Rescue

The Daily Star printed, on the front cover of its newspaper this morning, that the Chile mine is to be turned into a theme park.

The story revealed that the Chilean tourist bosses were planning to turn the San José Mine into a theme park.

Apparently this would have included a trip underground on the rescue capsule that brought the 33 men to safety.

What caused readers to be suspicious, however, is that an exclusive story is usually quick to be sent across the world’s media. The only other site to have carried the story was a suggestively named website, called The Spoof.

Another unlikely story is that a Chilean Miner Diet book is in the works after the 30 miners collectively lost 750kg in two months.

One of our associates, Laura Simpson, has recently written about bloggers and users of social media referring to the rescue as a “miracle”, which implies divine intervention.
