The 2011-12 PR Coaching Programme is now here!

As I have been alluding to for weeks, I’ve been putting together the timetables for the 2011-12 PR coaching programmes in Stoke, Birmingham and Manchester. We have finally reached launch day, so I thought it was time to furnish you with the details.

For those of you who don’t know, the coaching programme consists of 12 workshops (one per month), each one covering a different aspect of a PR campaign and featuring a presentation by an industry expert. The idea is to show you how to run your own PR campaigns, without incurring the cost of using an agency.

What is unique about the programme is everyone makes commitments in each workshop, pledging to do two or three things before the next workshop four weeks later. This ensures delegates get something out of each session and actually put it into practice when they get back to the office, rather than getting sidetracked which usually happens after workshops.

My view is it’s a waste of time to attend workshops if you are not going to apply what you’ve learnt. Often they are just an excuse to spend a few hours out of the office, with the mistaken belief you are developing your business (when in actual fact you could be doing something constructive at your desk!).

Anyway, the Stoke sessions will be held at the Lymedale Business Centre, in Newcastle-under-Lyme, on the following dates:

Aug 15th: how to get into The Sentinel’s Business Section (with business editor Dave Johnson)

Sept 19th: how to find public speaking opportunities (with public speaking veteran Tony Altham)

Oct 17th: an introduction to social media (with Market Avenue’s Anna Woolliscroft)

Nov 21st: how to get business from your blog (with expert blogger Quinton Watton-Smith)

Dec 19th: how to use PR to get your website to #1 on Google (with SEO specialist Peter Brough)

Jan 16th: LinkedIn for Business (with Beacon 4 Business’ Karen Cotton)

Feb 20th: generating leads through Facebook (with Ariadne’s Thread’s Liz Thursfield)

Mar 19th: how to get into Staffordshire Life (with former editor Philip Thurlow-Craig)

Apr 16th: using Twitter to raise your profile (with Twitter guru Louise Bolotin)

May 21st: how publicity stunts can help your business (with former Saatchi & Saatchi expert Richard Grisdale)

Jun 18th: writing a winning award application (with Midlands Business Awards’ Jo Bailey)

We will also be running programmes at The Fairlawns Hotel and Spa in Walsall, and The Waterside Hotel and Galleon Leisure Club in Didsbury, over the same period.
