Well, the time has come to decide who will become our new Junior Account Executive.

Since we launched our search for an apprentice on August 23rd, we’ve had some great applications (and some not-so-great ones!) from up and down the country.

We’ve narrowed it down to the best four, and will be interviewing them at RSA HQ tomorrow afternoon! How exciting!

As part of the process, we’ve asked our candidates to write a blog about themselves, and what they want to achieve through the placement.

Writing is clearly going to be a large part of their role, so we want to make sure they have some ability!

What has surprised me is how little attention to detail some applicants have. It’s one thing running a piece of writing through a spell-checker, and another thing entirely to make sure your piece makes sense!

This is a key consideration for you, if you’re writing your own copy, for PR or any other reason.

I can’t emphasise this enough, so here comes the caps lock:

It’s surprising how many pedants like me are on the receiving end, and what an impact it makes! With such little time, journos need little excuse to delete your press release (for instance), so it could mean the difference between getting into the paper and not.

Anyway, rant over! I’ll report back on how it goes and make an announcement about our decision tomorrow evening!

Have a good night all 🙂
