Mike Tindall to marry Zara Phillips – despite Keisha Buchanan hoping she would be the next to have a Royal Wedding

My blog post on this date questioned whether there would be another /news/uknews/royal-wedding/”>Royal Wedding soon?

Sugababes singer Keisha Buchanan hoped she would be the next person to tie-the-knot with Prince Harry.

However, she has been beaten to the post by The Queen’s eldest England rugby union player Mike Tindall who has got engaged to his long-term girlfriend, Zara Phillips.

A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said Mr Tindall had proposed to Ms Phillips on Monday night at the couple’s Gloucestershire home.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are said to be “delighted” by the news.

Ms Phillips, who is 12th in line to the throne, and Mr Tindall met during England’s Rugby World Cup-winning campaign in Australia in 2003.

She has achieved sporting success in her own right, winning individual gold at the World Equestrian Games in Germany in 2006.

The title helped her become BBC Sports Personality of the Year later that year, following in the footsteps of her mother, Princess Anne, who won the award in 1971.

The couple have yet to set a date for their wedding, but are unlikely to pick one too close to 29 April, which has been chosen by William and Kate.

Paul the Psychic Octopus dies and Nick Jonas realises the power of the Internet in getting his image across

The Top Tweet on Twitter today is that Paul the Octopus, who correctly predicted the outcome of all the games in this year’s World Cup in South Africa, has died, in his Aquarium in Germany.

Staff at the Oberhausen Sea Life Centre were devastated to discover that Paul had suddenly died overnight.

Paul amazed the world by correctly predicting the winners of all Germany’s World Cup clashes and the final. His success made him nearly a bigger story than the World Cup itself.

The Octopus beat the odds during the World Cup by correctly forecasting all eight games he was asked to predict, including Spain’s 1-0 win over the Netherlands in the final.

Staff at the centre are thinking of holding a ceremony to mark his passing.

Another Top Tweet is that Nick Jonas – from the Jonas Brothers – who helped Cameron Mackintosh sell expensive tickets for his Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Concert at The 02 this October and has always been a big name that will help to boost the publicity of an event (even if a lot of the die hard fans were unimpressed by his performance as Marius).

However, yesterday he tweeted to say that he had made an epic fail during flips with his brother Joe Jonas and made a sarcastic comment about not being able to wait to see it on YouTube.

He obviously realises the power of the Internet to publicise even the smallest of incidents. It seems that whatever celebrities do these days the world will know about it. They have to tread carefully to maintain a flawless image.
